U of T Birthday Quiz

U of T celebrates its 188th anniversary on Sunday, March 15. Here’s a chance to test your knowledge of all things U of T!

NOTE: Come back and read the text below once you’ve finished the quiz!

Interested to know how you did compared to others who took the quiz? Well, if you got less than 50%, don’t worry, you’re in good company! Almost 60% of the more than 1,000 people who have taken the quiz answered fewer than half of the 16 questions correctly. And only 10 have gotten all of them right.

Which questions were the toughest?

Only 13% of respondents answered #4 correctly, about how many Olympic medals alumna Jayna Hefford has won. And fewer than one-third of respondents were able to say which of Margaret Atwood’s novels had won the Booker Prize, or on what special day University College had burned down.

On the other hand, almost everyone knew if U of T was the largest non-governmental landowner in Toronto!

This was a fun quiz even though a lot of the questions were beyond my memory. Being housed at “the Huts” on Devonshire, we really weren’t tuned in to many of the Arts people or athletics. We took classes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. three days a week, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. two days and 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturdays – not a lot of time for leisure. But they were great days and our class still meets at least once a year for a luncheon and to catch up on news. Out of a class of 32, there are 22 of us still above the sod! Several live too far afield of Toronto but usually for our annual luncheons about 16 manage to get together.
