Why They Give

Supporting education

For Robert Rodmell, looking after people is a way of life. When he isn’t ensuring that U of T employees are working in comfortable temperatures, he cares for those in need in his community. For the past 15 years he has worked with teens in trouble and as a volunteer chaplain with his church. Last fall after more than a decade at U of T, the steam-fitting supervisor in the facilities and services department began to make a regular monthly donation to the President’s Fund for Excellence. Rodmell, who lives with his family near Oshawa, Ont., is pleased to help. “Education is a worthwhile thing,” he says. “It’s nice to give a little bit back.”
