ICUBE UTM

The name of this U of T Mississauga business accelerator refers to three “i” words central to entrepreneurship

ICUBE UTM is a business accelerator that helps early-stage startups develop their ideas. The name (as in I³) refers to inspiration, ideation and innovation – three “i” words that are central to entrepreneurship. It was suggested by U of T Mississauga student Nour Montasser, who won a contest to name the facility.

Located at UTM’s cube-like Innovation Complex, the accelerator is open to UTM students, staff, faculty and alumni and members of the local community. Those accepted into ICUBE gain access to mentors, workspace and entrepreneurship workshops.

Since its launch in 2015, ICUBE has accepted more than 50 ventures. As well, hundreds of people have taken part in ICUBE workshops and an entrepreneurial boot camp, or have signed up to receive startup advice. “The campus has hundreds of entrepreneurs looking for a place to call home,” says Samuel Dumcum, ICUBE’s program co-ordinator.
