Amarpreet Kaur showcases nature at U of T Mississauga
Amarpreet Kaur stumbled upon this stunning nature shot on a frosty January morning at the University of Toronto Mississauga. The third-year biology student often walks along Principal’s Road, passing by the Wilson Pond bridge near Lislehurst, where she likes to take photos. On this day, she was drawn to a fragile orange leaf dangling from a tree after a heavy snowfall.
Although Kaur processed the image to accentuate the warm red tones of autumn against the sharp whiteness of winter, it was the harmonious combination of all the elements in the scene that motivated her to capture it on camera. “I loved the snow on the leaf, the water droplets on the branches, and the vibrant colour of the leaf itself,” she says. “The way that everything fell together was my main inspiration for taking it in the first place.”
