Gillian Chow takes a photo of a special tourist at Robarts Library
Meet Mr. Tofu-man, an unlikely – but frequent – visitor on U of T’s St. George campus.
Gillian Chow (BA 2012 UC) carried the miniature white and green tofu cube – who also has arms and legs – in her pocket throughout her entire final undergraduate year. Before whipping out her father’s old Pentax MV1 camera, Chow would thoughtfully contemplate if this was a shot Mr. Tofu-man would want to be featured in.
One of Mr. Tofu-man’s travels took him to the stacks at Cheng Yu Tung East Asian Library, where Chow seized the opportunity to bring home a photo souvenir of him sitting at the top of a bookshelf. “I thought it would make a cute picture!” she says. But Mr. Tofu-man – with his apprehensive smile and apparent fear of heights – seemed to disapprove.
