Sometimes when life gets busy, U of T alum Daisy Qin (BA 2014 Trinity) grabs her camera and wanders the city, taking photos to unwind. During a brisk day in early spring, she biked to the Toronto Islands after work, and was snapping some shots of her bike helmet against the city skyline when an idea formed. She propped up her old iPhone on the pavement with a pebble and lined up the skyline on the screen to get a photo within a photo.

Qin enjoys the exhilaration that comes from capturing a great shot. “Everything is ephemeral – photographs included – but there’s something really cool about being able to freeze-frame a moment that’ll never transpire in exactly the same way ever again,” she says.
