U of T computer science alumna Aashni Shah has always had a fondness for safaris. Growing up in Kenya, she had plenty of opportunities to visit the country’s national parks, where she got to develop her photography skills. During a post-graduation trip to Kenya with friends, she came across an older, lone elephant while on safari. “I wanted to get as close as you can so that you can really see the wisdom in his eyes,” says Shah.

Travelling and photography are central to Shah’s life. “I’m always on the lookout for my next adventure where I can take my camera along with me.” To improve her skills, she has been posting a photo a day for almost fours years for her personal project, #Project365. Check out her progress on her Instagram.
