OISE graduate Victoria Fisher keeps her camera handy and waits for good luck
Aspiring teacher Victoria Fisher (BA 2008 VIC), attributes this photo to “pure good luck.” She was walking south on Spadina in March of 2010 when the shadowy figures at Queen Street caught her eye. “I had to scramble to get my camera out in time to catch this and a few other shots before the streetcar arrived,” Fisher says. As well pursuing photography as a hobby, Fisher is also a published author of “speculative fiction.”
This image was taken using a single exposure, and aside from being converted to black and white, has not been altered. “I felt the impact of the people’s shadows was greater in black and white,” she says. Although Fisher plans to teach in the United Kingdom this September, she will likely keep her camera close at hand waiting for good luck to strike again.
