Ian Poon goes to great lengths to capture his perfect shot

While the experience of being underwater usually lasts only a few seconds, capturing this stunt on camera took much longer. Ian Poon, a first-year architecture student, arranged a photo shoot at a friend’s swimming pool last summer, bringing only a “five-dollar waterproof camera” as his primary equipment.

It took him hours of preparation to get the right shot, but the original photos turned out underexposed and green because of the camera quality. Luckily, Poon was able to correct the hues and tones through post-processing and editing software. “Being underwater may not last long, but now I have a piece of that experience in a photograph,” he says.
