UTM alum Rishabh Dev captured this heavenly view from an abandoned house
On the way to Smiths Falls, Ontario, during mid-fall, Rishabh Dev (BA 2015 UTM) came across an abandoned house with a window that opened onto a beautiful garden and trail. The contrast of the bright outside world framed by the dark, dilapidated interior brought to his mind a metaphor: “I really wanted to take the shot because it shows that when you open the window for the beautiful view, it’s like keeping an open mind,” he says. For Dev, closing one’s mind means closing oneself to opportunities.
Getting the right shot took time – about 45 minutes for 10 to 15 shots taken at various angles. Such patience no doubt serves Dev’s passion for nature photography well. He particularly loves to capture the colours of the fall foliage. Check out his Instagram feed for more photos.
