In a group-designed race car, the University of Toronto Formula SAE Racing Team sped past their opponents to earn the Formula Student Championship Award in Leicester, England. This is the first time that Canadians have won the competition, the only one of its kind in the world. The team, composed of U of T students, took home seven awards from the July competition, including the Overall Performance Award and first place in endurance. Team members include drivers Gabor Legeny (lead manufacturing), Matthew Ferraro (technical director), Jeremy Koudelka (chief designer), Jerry Zielinski (engine group leader) and Vinh Pham (team captain).
