Students on the St. George Campus voted overwhelmingly against supporting a levy for the Varsity Centre development. Had the levy passed, full-time students would have paid $25 per year for the first three years, with part-time students contributing $7.50 toward construction of the new centre. The fees, eventually rising to $70 and $21 a year respectively and continuing for the next 25 years, would have paid for a new 5,000-seat stadium, an eight-lane track, an artificial playing field, two ice rinks and fitness facilities. U of T will reconsider how to replace its crumbling stadium.
