U of T student and rhythmic gymnast Alexandra Orlando won six gold medals at the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games in March. Orlando, a commerce student at Woodsworth College, garnered gold in the rhythmic gymnastic disciplines of rope, ball, ribbon, clubs, all-around and team. She is one of just four athletes who have won six gold medals at a single Commonwealth Games. (The other three, all swimmers, include Canadian Graham Smith.) “I was in a dream. Thinking back on it, it’s a bit of a blur,” she says. “But it was a great day.”
