The University of Toronto did it again, taking top honours for the seventh straight year in the medical/doctoral category of Maclean’s magazine’s ranking of Canadian universities. “I’m both relieved and gratified that we have once again achieved the number 1 ranking,” says President Robert Birgeneau.
U of T also placed first in the total number of library holdings, with more than 51,000 serials and 8.6 million holdings. In fact, U of T’s library system is the largest of any public university in North America, and ranks fourth behind Harvard, Yale and Stanford (all private institutions), according to the Association of Research Libraries in Washington, D.C.
