University of Toronto at Mississauga had a reason to crow recently when its new first-year residence complex won the City of Mississauga 2000 Urban Design Award of Excellence for its overall design and quality of construction. Baird Sampson Neuert Architects Inc. designed the building in joint venture with Fliess Gates McGowan Easton/Architects Inc. Landscape architects were Neil Turnbull Limited.
At the same award ceremony, the new UTM Student Centre, at right, designed by Kohn Shnier Architects and PMA Landscape Architects, was named one of the nine Millennium Design Icon buildings in the City of Mississauga.
